Mario Maurer was born December 4, 1988 in Bangkok, Thailand. He is of Thai, Chinese(Chinese mother), and German(German father) descent. He studied at Ramkhamhaeng University and took up Communication Arts as his course major.
Mario started modeling at his early age of 16. He became a model in photo shoots, commercials and music videos. His feature film debut in a leading role in "The Love of Siam," in 2007 cause him to be nominated for an Asian Film Awards in the category of Best Supporting Actor for his performance. The role was "Tong" that would bring him many accolades and instant fame far beyond Thailand's borders. He became very famous in this film because of his gay role.
